Well I, for one, am looking forward to being edified. And deconstructed. Yes, yes--It's freaky that I read your blog. Nevertheless. . .

Susan, I just now, possibly months after the fact (I don't come here often), read your comment. Are you still living locally? What about your family? Dave? We are in Monrovia (have been for nearly 28 years). I hope you see this. For more on our family you can go to terrills.blogspot.com.

Hi Harry!

What a pleasant surprise it is to hear from you. I am not one to be intrusive...and so in answer to your response, I would be happy to "fill in the blanks" and bring you to date.

I am also curious about you and yours...but am very low-tech as pertains to blogs and such...so please bear with me. If you don't mind sharing your email address...it would be easier for me to respond in that mode. I am a "talker". I guess you can tell...

Dave will be surprised also...as he has always spoken so highly of you.

Thanks for your response and your interest. Need I say that you are a phenomenal writer...I am unduly impressed!!!

Hi Harry,

Never mind the email thing. I can answer your questions here. (Get ready…you might be sorry you asked—I tend to get too detailed)!

My husband and I met and worked at the Mattel Distribution Center in the City of Industry in 1974 (on my birthday). We later married (he was divorced from his high school sweetheart—I guess it wasn’t that “sweet” after all), and in 1986 he was promoted and we were transferred to Texas. He worked in Distribution management, as they had just constructed a new facility at Centreport…just south of the DFW airport. I worked for him (indirectly) at the time…and was later promoted to manage the on-site outlet toy store at that facility. I loved the job but later retired in 1992. Vaughn had planned to retire when he was 59 ½ but was “laid off” in 2006…just 2 ½ years before that time—corporate politics, of course.

Within two weeks we sold our home and then moved to Utah amidst the influx of Californians…which escalated the cost of housing (really good timing, huh?)…to a little “cookie cutter” community in Eagle Mountain with lots of “little ones” here, there and everywhere…but it had a nice open feeling…and we loved the mountains. My husband notably observed that he has never seen so many pregnant women in one place…speaking of Utah in general…haha!

My parents died in 1989. My mom had developed a sudden and deadly sarcoma. Ironically she was diagnosed on my birthday in 1988…and despite attempts with alternative medicine…she died on January 1st of 1990. Although this was totally unexpected…as I read her patriarchal blessing…I could see that she had accomplished all that she needed to do. She became a vivid part of my dreams every single night until January of 1998…the day I went back to church…after having been inactive for several years…and it was then that the nightly dreams simply stopped. I had a wonderful bishop who, along with his wife, took me under his wing…and on September 26 of that year I received my endowment.

Within a very short time, my dad sold the house and went to live with my brother and his family in St. George to help Dave with his business. However, on an early morning trip, Dad was killed when his car hit a patch of black ice. Again…in reading his patriarchal blessing…it was evident that he was needed on the other side.

As for my brother…we talk two or three times a week…and see each other as able. He works in a business created by two brothers…and it is called Star Tech. He shares a small percentage of ownership in that business and takes care of the financial, contractual and legal issues involved. He wants to move to Canada in the near future. He has three boys…one of which was killed during the Gulf war. He was my closest and favorite nephew. His name was Tim and he was only 22.

As for my husband…although he is not LDS…he is very supportive, kind and loving…funny too—a real character. He has so many good qualities and a lot of integrity…I really
can’t say enough…

Now about you, Harry…I am so curious to know what you have been up to all these years…and about your family. Although I didn’t know Fran or Jim on a personal level…I recall Fran as a real “looker”. I think Dave had a crush on her back then…really! I remember your mom also…but again…didn’t know her personally. Please share with me…if you will…some of the things that have marked your life and theirs. I am both curious and interested to hear. In the meantime…I will be checking out your blogs!

Thanks for taking the time to write! And take care…Sue
P.S. Sorry this was so long…but I warned you!
